Have you ever had a ‘bad hair’ day?

One of the first things I do when I wake in the morning is run my fingers through my hair to get it out of my face.  Later after my quiet time with GOD, and getting dressed for the day, I will look in the mirror to comb or style my hair.  I am sure most of you do similar things.  Our appearance does matter to us.  Quite honestly, different hair styles can make us look vastly different.

Recently, I read a post on Facebook where a cousin- Jami- mentioned missing her own hairdresser.  She told of having her hair done in another city while visiting family and having to pay $150.00 to get her long hair trimmed and highlighted. I was flabbergasted at the cost -but then again I don’t generally go get my hair done for my daughter Kari does it.  When I mentioned the post to my hair-stylist daughter, she validated that price or more was often charged.  Kari quickly added that she didn’t charge quite that much.

But I venture to say, even though it is important to us how our hair looks, we have no clue-or even care- how many hairs are on our head.  But GOD does (Matthew 10:30).

What does that tell us about GOD?

Before my hair was cut short, I was amazed how much hair I could vacuum up after just a few days.  I didn’t see the individual strands falling or even detect them on the rug; but sometimes I would have to pick them off when they would show up on my clothing.  Therefore GOD must have to keep recalculating to know the exact numbers of hairs on my head.  HIS knowledge amazes me, but there is more to it than that.

If GOD cares enough about me to take note of the number of hairs on my head, it shows me that HE knows more about me than I do.  For HIM to take note of that information demonstrates that I am important to GOD (and by the way- so are you)!  HE cares about anything and everything that concerns me- no matter how teeny tiny it may seem.  That simply blows me away when I think about how the Mighty Eternal Creator of the heavens and earth and everything in it is constantly thinking about me, Sharon (Psalm 139:1-18).

Therefore many things I would never mention to another person, I can and do discuss with GOD.  When GOD says, “In all your ways acknowledge me and I will direct your path” (Proverbs 3:5-7), HE wasn’t kidding.

I find that personalizing scripture helps me grab a hold of what it means and how it applies to me. May I suggest that you take a few moments and turn to Psalm 139.  As you read through each phrase, personalize it and write it down.  Something like:  LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, YOU know that I am sitting here on the floor, typing this devotion.  YOU know how long it will take and when I will get up.  YOU know what this devotion will convey even though I am not sure how to end it for YOU know my thoughts before I even think them, let alone type them out”( Psalm 139:2 Sharon’s personalization).

How precious to me are YOUR thoughts of me O GOD!  How vast the sum of them!  If I could count them, they would be more in number than the grains of sand (Psalm 139:17-18 Sharon’s personalization).

Looking unto JESUS, the Author and Finisher of my faith,
Hugs
