Have you ever had a ‘bad hair’ day?

by Sharon Lee Manning
a Beautiful Friend and Prayer Partner

One of the first things I do when I wake in the morning is run my fingers through my hair to get it out of my face.  Later after my quiet time with GOD, and getting dressed for the day, I will look in the mirror to comb or style my hair.  I am sure most of you do similar things.  Our appearance does matter to us.  Quite honestly, different hair styles can make us look vastly different.

Recently, I read a post on Facebook where a cousin- Jami- mentioned missing her own hairdresser.  She told of having her hair done in another city while visiting family and having to pay $150.00 to get her long hair trimmed and highlighted. I was flabbergasted at the cost -but then again I don’t generally go get my hair done for my daughter Kari does it.  When I mentioned the post to my hair-stylist daughter, she validated that price or more was often charged.  Kari quickly added that she didn’t charge quite that much.

But I venture to say, even though it is important to us how our hair looks, we have no clue-or even care- how many hairs are on our head.  But GOD does (Matthew 10:30).

What does that tell us about GOD?

Before my hair was cut short, I was amazed how much hair I could vacuum up after just a few days.  I didn’t see the individual strands falling or even detect them on the rug; but sometimes I would have to pick them off when they would show up on my clothing.  Therefore GOD must have to keep recalculating to know the exact numbers of hairs on my head.  HIS knowledge amazes me, but there is more to it than that.

If GOD cares enough about me to take note of the number of hairs on my head, it shows me that HE knows more about me than I do.  For HIM to take note of that information demonstrates that I am important to GOD (and by the way- so are you)!  HE cares about anything and everything that concerns me- no matter how teeny tiny it may seem.  That simply blows me away when I think about how the Mighty Eternal Creator of the heavens and earth and everything in it is constantly thinking about me, Sharon (Psalm 139:1-18).

Therefore many things I would never mention to another person, I can and do discuss with GOD.  When GOD says, “In all your ways acknowledge me and I will direct your path” (Proverbs 3:5-7), HE wasn’t kidding.

I find that personalizing scripture helps me grab a hold of what it means and how it applies to me. May I suggest that you take a few moments and turn to Psalm 139.  As you read through each phrase, personalize it and write it down.  Something like:  LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, YOU know that I am sitting here on the floor, typing this devotion.  YOU know how long it will take and when I will get up.  YOU know what this devotion will convey even though I am not sure how to end it for YOU know my thoughts before I even think them, let alone type them out”( Psalm 139:2 Sharon’s personalization).

How precious to me are YOUR thoughts of me O GOD!  How vast the sum of them!  If I could count them, they would be more in number than the grains of sand (Psalm 139:17-18 Sharon’s personalization).

Looking unto JESUS, the Author and Finisher of my faith,
Hugs
Sharon

Shared by my dear friend Linda: this is not a Cat Tale, but rather a very beautiful Animal Tale of Human Kindness and Compassion:

A Man Found Two Bear Cubs Beside Their Dead Mother. Words Can't Describe What Followed .
A naturalist named Casey Anderson stumbled across two grizzly bear cubs nestled beside their dead mother in the wild mountains of Alaska. Casey couldn't just leave these little guys to die in the wilderness, so he made the brave decision to take them with him. He trains animals for a living, so he knew he would be able to give these cubs a real shot. That simple decision, borne out of grief, turned into one of the most unique and adorable rehabilitation stories we have ever laid eyes on.
This is Casey and the little cubs. Unfortunately, only one survived and he decided to adopt him.

He named him Brutus.

Brutus grew up as part of the family, albeit a very fuzzy part.

It was Casey's job to train animals, so raising and training Brutus was normal for him.

Over the years, they became close friends and brothers.

And Brutus got the run of the pool.

Brutus grew to be so close to Casey, he was even his best man (bear) at the wedding.

It may have made the bride a little nervous.

But she was probably glad Brutus wasn't capable of taking him to a strip club (no thumbs).

Brutus also gets a place of honor at the Thanksgiving table.

Life is good for this not-so-average bear.

SUP?

You'll be hard pressed to find a situation cooler than being best friends with a killer grizzly bear.

If Casey and Brutus made you smile, then you should probably spread the joy and share this.
This is a lovely story.   Shame all humans aren't this kind and understanding.   Though many are and this is a lovely example of it!

Dunkin gets Adopted

See these pet adoption stories and more at the Shelter Pet Project
Dunkin

Adopter:

Deb Chambers
Location:    , MA
Shelter:    Salem Animal Rescue League
Why Dunkin is so special:    My cat Dunkin was adopted from NH SARL in 2010. The mother and two siblings were already taken. He was so small and scared, I had to take him home. The love in his eyes and actions - he so appreciates being rescued! He has so many toys and waits in the window to see our car pull up. Then he waits at the door and does his falling down, rolling-around routine. (We have to scratch his stomach and play with him.) When he was small, I remade his scratching post; he watched the entire process. It's his favorite spot!
If your pet could talk, what would he or she tell us about you?:    Best mom and dad in the whole big world!
