Reaching Out

by Our Dearest Friend Sharon Manning

There are a lot of abused animals and this little one looks like its reaching out for help.

I send out these devotions as well as post them.  Some comment on them.   One gal in particular has been very vocal in asking why?  I am on the topics I have been on.  So as in light of I Peter 3:15 But set apart Christ as LORD in your hearts.  And be ready always to give an answer to every one that asks you a reason of the hope this is in you with gentleness and respect.  I want to explain where I am coming from and in that way give a reason for the hope that is in me.

Like that kitten, there are countless people who need help and before GOD our Savior, JESUS came and died in our place, all of us were doomed. For the soul that sins, he shall die. Ezekiel 18:20 for the wages of sin is death but the gift of GOD is eternal life through JESUS CHRIST our LORD.  Romans 6:23 But GOD didn’t leave us helpless,

No,  JESUS came to earth as a baby and died carrying every sin, past, present and future to deliver us.  All that we need to do to obtain for ourselves the benefit of what JESUS did for us on the cross is to believe in HIM.  But just like an abused animal has wounds that need to be healed even after it has been rescued from danger, that is also true of people.  If we have received the love of the truth, we have been forgiven but many of us still have deep wounds. GOD wants to bring healing to each one of us.  The forgiveness of our sins is just the beginning of what HE has for us. There are awesome things awaiting us in heaven but even before that GOD is at work behind the scenes here and now in every believers heart.
·         Romans 8:28 And we know to the ones loving GOD (HE is at work behind the scenes), GOD by HIMSELF (singular) in reality is continually holding together, has in custody (all things that touch us),and is exercising a constraining influence on all things to the good, yes to benefit the ones being called according to  HIS purpose. 29 because those whom HE in reality in undefined time past foresaw (foreknew) them HE also in undefined time past determined beforehand  to conform to be like (exact image) of HIS SON, that HE should be the 1st born of many brethren.
GOD is our Savior and Deliver, our Redeemer… Although HE has given us free will, HE has not tied HIS own hands or crippled HIMSELF from working and delivering HIS people
·         Isaiah 50:2 …Is MY hand shortened at all, that It cannot redeem? Or have I no power to deliver? ….
Although HE has called us to co- labor with HIM HE is not dependant on our response.
·         Isaiah 59:15  Truth is nowhere to be found, and whoever shuns evil becomes a prey.  The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no justice.  HE saw there was no one, HE was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so HIS own arm worked salvation…
·         Isaiah 63:5  And I looked and there was no one to help, and I was appalled that no one gave support; so MY own arm worked salvation…

GOD does use people as instruments of HIS work.  He calls both HIS people and HIS enemies to do HIS bidding.
·         Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD who places within you the desire to do what HE wants done and also enables you to do it.
·         Revelation 17:12,17 The 10 horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast…For GOD has put it into the hearts of the 10 kings to accomplish HIS purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until GOD’ words are fulfilled.
Our GOD is the MOST HIGH, HE is LORD of lords and KING of kings, HE is the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, the LORD of hosts (armies).  HE is Sovereign, let us not forget it.  Just because HE is love does not lesson HIS Majesty or HIS power.

I love the way Sinclair Lewis spoke in the Chronicles of Narnia as he describes Aslan (a picture of JESUS), the son of the Great Emperor-Beyond-the Sea ..”if there’s anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking they’re either braver than most or else just silly…. “Then HE isn’t safe?” Asked Sally…“Safe?... who said anything about safe?  Course HE is not safe.  But HE is good.

Hugs

Miracle - Cat Survives Burning Building

Miracle Survival As Burning Building Collapses Around Cat

As the burning Towers Hotel in Dauphin, Manitoba collapsed, a lucky cat made an amazing escape — running from the site after the building had collapsed around it. If you look carefully you can see the black-and-white cat sitting in the window before the collapse and then running away afterwards.
Despite a valiant effort by the Dauphin Fire Department the historic building was completely destroyed. No lives were lost but a man has been taken into custody.

Independence Day Babies

Happy Birthday Beauties!

These babies are only five days old today. Their momma, a once orphaned, young stray living on the streets, was discovered by my precious prayer friend Jodi and her family. They took her in about three weeks ago for their daughter. As they visited the vet with her, low and behold, they learned she was an expectant mother.

The kittens were born June 30--Momma is a black and white tuxedo cat who is a very loving and sociable feline according to Jodi. These kittens are sure to be the star of the show!

God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and every thing that moves upon the ground after its kind. And God saw that it was good (Genesis 1:20-22, 24-25 NLV).

Happy 4th of July Babies!

Lost Cats Comes Home After 13 Years

Shelby turned up back at her St. Albans Park, Geelong, Australia home as a poorly looking stray 13 years after she’d gone missing, to the amazement of her family.
When Paula Harper-Adams found what she thought was a sorry looking young black and white cat in her front yard recently, she took the kitty to the Bellarine Vet Clinic to get it some help. When the vet staff told her that the cat was quite old, Paula began to wonder if it could possibly be Shelby, who had disappeared in 2001 and would now be nearly 18 years old.
“It was standing at the vet, where I had this moment, where I thought, could it possibly be our cat that ran away 13 years ago?” Paula said.
“I was convinced I was crazy, but I took a photo of the cat’s face, in case anyone responded to my Facebook post (for a missing animal), and left,’’ Paula said.
“I half joked that if I could find a photo of Shelby, I’d be back.
“Well, I went home and, like a woman possessed, searched through box after box until I found the photo I was looking for, Shelby.
“I took the photo back to the vet and the girls had a good look over her and the photo before coming back and announcing to me in the waiting room: ‘She is your cat.’ ’’
Paula says she burst into tears when it was confirmed by a comparison of the photos that Shelby had come back at long last.
Vet clinic co-ordinator Natalie Dorain said: “For someone to find their cat after such a long time and wondering what had happened to your cat all that time, I think we all sort of felt pretty emotional about that.”
Paula has no idea where Shelby has been for the paw 13 years, but she is overjoyed to have her back home. Paula’s children weren’t even born when Shelby went missing but they have excitedly welcomed her return. The only family member not pleased to see Shelby is the other resident cat.
Paula hopes her story will give hope to other families with missing pets.
“I want to say never give up.”

Congrats to the Oldest Living Cat Poppy

World’s oldest living cat: 24-year-old Poppy is new world record holder

Poppy the moggy is purring with delight after scooping the world’s oldest cat crown at the age of 24.

The pretty pet was born in February 1990, the same month Nelson Mandela was released from prison.

She has lived through five British Prime Ministers but is now a frail old lady and spends most of her time inside relaxing.

At the grand old age of 24, she has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records as the oldest living cat.

Poppy, from Bournemouth, has picked up the title following the death of Pinky, a cat from Kansas who passed away at the age of 23 last year.

The ‘Top Cat’ Poppy was originally called Popsy and had two owners in her early days.

Then, aged five, she was adopted by Marguerite Corner and her daughter Jacqui. At the age of ten, Poppy went with Jacqui who had moved in with future husband Andy West.

The couple now have two sons (Joe,11 and Toby, eight) and Poppy lives with four other cats, two rabbits and a hamster.

Despite her age and frailty, Poppy is still the boss of the house and if the other cats try their luck with her they are swiftly dealt with.

Jacqui said: “People always ask what we put Poppy’s longevity down to and I guess she has a good diet and lots of exercise.

“She keeps herself fit by walking around and she eats a lot. She has biscuits in the morning and tinned food later on. She’s never been a big cat though.

“She is partial to the odd takeaway. We sometimes give her a bit of KFC chicken, Fish and chips and even the odd bit of kebab meat.”

Jacqui, an accountant, has four other cats along with two rabbits and a hamster.

She wrote to Guinness World Records in February after Poppy turned 24, submitting her into the category of “Oldest Cat Currently Living”.

Guinness World Records investigated the West’s claims and have now confirmed Poppy as the world’s oldest living cat.

Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief, said:  “We’ve been overwhelmed with claims for the ‘oldest living cat’, with owners from across the globe making applications on behalf of their cats.  Today, though, I’m pleased to confirm that we’re recognising  Poppy from Bournemouth in the UK as the world’s oldest living cat, at the age of 24 years.  If anyone thinks their cat beats this, and can prove it, then we’d encourage them to get in touch with us.”

The oldest cat in history was a feline called Creme Puff who was born on 3 August 1967 and lived until 6 August 2005 - an amazing 38 years and 3 days.

Creme Puff lived with her owner, Jake Perry, in Austin, Texas, USA.

But the crown is now in Bournemouth with Poppy.
Jacqui added: “Poppy is definitely the top cat and she is still quite feisty. If one of the other cats tries to eat her food she will bite them on the ear.

“She’s deaf and blind and meows for everything. We call her stroppy Poppy sometimes.
Poppy-cat-2.jpg
“She can get up the stairs but we won’t let her walk down. Over the last year her health has gone down and we know the end is near.

“Poppy does seem to be out-living all our other pets too. We unfortunately had a hamster and bunny die on us last year.

“Each time we tell the grandparents we’ve lost an animal, they all assume its Poppy. I’ve said goodbye to her a few times but she keeps on going.”
